The community toilet facility was designed to respond to the needs of the nearby bustling market. The space serves as a place of respite for vendors, with tea stalls and internal courtyards acting as informal pause points. Located near the settlement of Saathiya Nagar, the design emphasizes creating a welcoming area for women at the heart of the facility, featuring an open-to-sky courtyard for development programs and community gatherings. The color palette draws inspiration from vernacular architecture, with warm, earthy shades of beige and copper to blend harmoniously with the local context.
The design integrates jalis, skylights, and open-to-sky spaces to enhance cleanliness through quick drying and ventilation. Separate access points for women and men ensure safety and privacy.
The PWD (Persons with Disabilities) toilets and legibility through signage promote accessibility for all. The facility also incorporates rainwater harvesting features, reflecting a commitment to sustainability.
